Benefits of YOGA

A significant benefit of practicing YOGA is strengthening your nervous system’s capacity to complete your goals. When you feel frozen and overwhelmed, you are stuck in the stress response of your nervous system. YOGA keeps you out of the stress response and into a calm state to reach your goals with less resistance.

The MANY other benefits:

  • REDUCE CORTISOL LEVELS – Cortisol is the stress hormone. Yoga practices are shown to reduce cortisol levels and reverse the effects of stress on your body to make you healthier.
  • STRENGTHENS YOUR BRAIN – It helps create new neural pathways in your brain to improve your memory and create better habits.
  • OVERALL HEALTH – Yoga has been shown to clinically improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and cardiovascular resilience.
  • REDUCES INFLAMMATION – Evidence suggests that yoga can help reduce chronic inflammation, and boost immunity, helping you get sick less often and less intensely.
  • INCREASES FLEXABILITY – Improves flexibility to prevent the loss of range of motion. A lack of flexibility only gives you another reason to practice yoga!
  • IMPROVES BALANCE – Helps to prevent falls, the leading cause of injuries as you age.
  • MAKES YOU STRONGER – It builds muscle strength to counteract the natural skeletal atrophy that happens with aging.

YOGA Classes

My teaching style is calming, so you can enjoy the healing benefits of yoga for your mind, body, and soul. I believe the goal of yoga is not to be able to do any particular technique or pose perfectly. It is to enjoy the journey of exploring your body and what it’s capable of doing. I encourage my students to practice personal autonomy to focus more on themselves instead of everyone around them.

I am a Certified Yoga teacher in Vinyasa, Hatha, Chair, Restorative, and Yin Yoga.
