How to Create a Joyful Business by Breaking the Rules!

There are rules, and there are RULES! 😉 There are rules for your business as in taxes, insurance, and legalities. I am not talking about those rules. Following those rules is necessary to keep your business protected and legal.

The rules I am concerned with are what I call the ones from ‘the gurus.’ You know the so-called experts that say it NEEDS to be done this way, aka their way, or you will FAIL!

You dutifully follow their rules. After all, you don’t have the confidence yet to create your own rules because you never started a business before.

It gives you comfort knowing that you don’t have to figure it out yourself because someone else already figured it all out for you, or so you thought they did.

I spent lots of money learning to do it their way, only to get frustrated and overwhelmed when their methods didn’t work for me.

I thought something was wrong with me, and I can never own a business!

I eventually learned that their methods worked for them because they reflected their personality and values, not mine!

It was such a relief when I realized this. I didn’t feel like a failure anymore.

Rules are only someone’s thoughts on how they think you should do things. You can agree with them or not! Your choice!

I decided I would have to create my own rules to have a joyful business.

Here is a guideline to help you to get started on creating your own rules.

Be Confident

Using your thoughts to build your business is what will give you confidence. You know within yourself what you want your business to be. You get to decide the rules for your business!

You might not want to work every day – 100% fine.
Or hustle all the time – 100% fine
Or not have a niche – 100% fine.

List the rules that bring you the most joy and start implementing them with confidence.

Create Your Vision

Your vision of your business will clarify what you want your business to look and feel. Dream big!

Your business will not look like anyone else. It would be unique to you, which is great because it will make you stand out from the rest!

Clarify Your Values

Knowing your values will help you make decisions that are right for you. If spending time with your family is a value you have, you could arrange your work schedule around your family’s needs. If you don’t, you find yourself not having the time to work on your business.

You will always choose what reflected your value over anything else, even your business.

Know Your Strengths & Weaknesses

When you know what you are good at and not, you will focus more on your strengths, especially when you are new. You can strengthen or delegate your weaknesses later.

Use your personality as a strength. If you are an introvert, find the best way to market the business that works best for you. Accept that you will have to do things differently than how someone extroverted will do it.

It might be scary for you to create your rules, especially if you were like me and always a rule follower. I struggled with this also. I have been where you are right now, and I know I can help you create a business with your rules.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss how I can best help you create a business you love.
